Hypnotherapy has a long history of helping people to deal with emotional issues, and has been used successfully in helping with phobias (such as fear of flying, fear of open spaces, fear of social situations); helping with overcoming addictions (such as smoking or gambling); and helping people to overcome emotional issues (like low self esteem, relationship problems, or even poor job performance).
In hypnotherapy, the client sits or lies down and relaxes, while listening to the voice of the hypnotherapist. They normally close their eyes, and are guided through a visualisation in which they imagine different scenarios, for example they might be walking through a cave towards a jewel, and then be told that the jewel represents their courage.
I have experience as a hypnotherapist, and have successfully helped people to overcome their problems using this technique. Although hypnotherapy can seem unusual, it is less emotionally demanding than other techniques, and can sometimes offer a quick solution to a problem.
